Stuructural Engineering Convention ( SEC-2003 ) is the FOURTH in the series , the other three were held at IIT Madras , IIT Bombay and IIT Roorkee respectively.

Ever increasing demand of constructing complex structural forms in a complex loading environment has posed newer chalenges to the Structural Engineers for innovative research both in terms of forms as well as construction materials . At the same time , the age old structures raise an alarming question of their life-expectancy and possible treatment for rejuvenation . As a result , health monitoring of such structural systems has become inevitable. Hence , on one hand challange for newer development in terms of efficient , economic forms and materials and the remedial treatment for existing structures on the other forces the structural engineers to think in different perspective .

The objective of Structural Engineering Convention ( SEC-2003 ) is to bring all the professional structural engineers , researchers in the field to a common platform to deliberate on the key issues of structural engineering , the country needs today .
